Brett Favre retires

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to end his legendary NFL career and retire after 17 record-breaking seasons. The 38-year-old led the Packers to the NFC North Division title last season as he passed for 3,799 meters and 28 touchdowns. During the season he became the league's all-time leader in passing (56 377 meters), touchdown passes (442) and career wins (160). But the magical campaign ended in disappointing fashion in the NFC title game, when the Packers suffered a 23-20 overtime loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants. The only three-time MVP in NFL history, Favre is the league's all-time leader with 5,377 career completions. A nine-time Pro Bowler, Favre has started 253 consecutive regular-season games for the Packers, a streak that dates to September 27, 1992. Favre led the Packers to a 35-21 victory over the New England Patriots in the 1997 Super Bowl, the franchise's first title in 29 years. The MVP in 1995 and 1996 and co-winner of the award in 1997, Favre has five seasons with at least 4,000 passing yards and eight campaigns with at least 30 TDs.

Van Halen tour reportedly not cancelled

Despite reports to the contrary, sources with Van Halen say the band's tour is not being cancelled, though tonight's (March 3) scheduled show at the American Airlines Center in Dallas has been postponed and rescheduled for April 24. Three other dates have been postponed while Eddie Van Halen undergoes medical tests. Stay tuned for new developments.

Van Halen - remaining tour dates cancelled?

The remaining dates of Van Halen's reunion tour have been canceled, TMZ.com is reporting. The tour began in September with popular singer David Lee Roth performing with the band for the first time in 22 years, and Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang, playing bass. Although performances were lined up through April 19, TMZ.com cited unnamed sources as saying the band's hotel reservations are being canceled now that the rest of the tour has been scrapped. The band's last three shows were canceled as Eddie Van Halen is said to be having "issues," the report said. The rock icon, who spent time in rehab last year, has been in media headlines the last few weeks because his ex-wife, actress Valerie Bertinelli, is making the rounds to promote her new tell-all memoir. The book discusses her and Van Halen's mutual infidelity and drug use during their more than 20 years of marriage. Representatives for the band could not be reached for comment, TMZ.com said. Stay tuned as we will report as soon as this news is confirmed.
